I live on the borders of Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptoshire in the beautiful Welland Valley and have done since returning from Wellington in the North Island of New Zealand where we lived for over 12 years.
Drawing has always been a passion and whilst never having had full-time formal training I have taken classes from life drawing to oil painting or watercolour and more wherever I have lived.
I sketch regularly and really enjoy capturing people just going about their everyday business, looking at the colours around us and the shadows that are formed.
I have developed a love first and foremost of portraiture and figurative work and particularly like to see and paint the momentary expressions that pass across people’s faces and look for the effect of light and shadow and the shapes and colours within them.
I have been commissioned to paint children, dogs and on occasion horses, mostly in oil but occasionally in watercolour and have sold a number of works abroad and in the UK.
Lately I have been trying my hand at landscapes and still life and that has been a different kind of challenge for me but one I will continue.
Please do contact me if there is a painting you're interested in. Thank you.
